This month, our Midlands fostering team hosted their Foster Parent and Staff Forum, a day of learning and reflection on improving practices to secure the very best outcomes for children and young people.
The forum, which took place on the 28th March in Telford, was joined by Guest Speaker, Jeremy Indika.
Jeremy’s mission is to break the silence surrounding child sexual abuse, using his own story to break down stigmas to help us understand how such a thing can happen.
Jeremy Indika speaks in schools, organisations and businesses telling his story of child sexual abuse.
During the day, Jeremy discussed how he wants to change the culture on how we talk about this, and what we plan to do to prevent it happening entirely.
"Four years ago I left my career as an engineer to pursue this mission. To turn this subject into something that people want to hear more about instead of something they turn away from. During my story you are going to hear sadness, but also encouragement and adventure as I detail the successes and setbacks since going public with my story. There's so much to learn from real life accounts. Let's make a change. Lets protect the children of today."
Midlands Fostering Service Manager, Pattie, and Senior Therapist Jane, also shared insights into how the therapy service at FCA Midlands is evolving in 2023; discussing the PACE model and embedding this in practice.
FCA Midlands offer a supportive network of childcare experts who work with each child or young person and their foster parent to look after every area of their wellbeing. This collaborative, therapeutic approach includes therapists, education workers, social workers and support workers.
