Meet foster parent Paula from Hertfordshire, who started fostering during Covid back in 2020
With her own children flying the nest and having children of their own, the timing was perfect for Paula to foster and use the space to give young people in need of care a loving home.
She currently cares for a sibling group of 3 young children, aged seven, four, and two.
Speaking about the impact it’s had on her family, Paula says: “Our family are very proud of us being foster parents and they love our foster children – we do lots of activities as a family, so having 3 more little ones come along just adds to it.’
She adds: “Fostering has brought us all together as a family. We appreciate each other a lot more.”
“We learn things from the children – as you watch them grow, change, and develop, you are proud you have contributed towards that. One of my best fostering moments was at a sports day, and our young foster child joined in for the first time. It was us being there and encouraging him, his face just lit up and he had the confidence to join in.”
She concludes: “FCA Thames Valley is a lovely team to be part of.”
“I wish we had done it a long time ago.”
