Meet Lesley from Durham, who has been fostering for over 10 years with FCA…
Lesley, a foster parent from FCA North East is transforming the future of two siblings in her care. Placed with her from the early ages of 5 and 7 years old, the sibling group are still with her 8 years later and thriving. Recounting what led her to start fostering, Lesley describes the strong need to help children and give them a better life.
She cites a “good sense of humour, patience, tolerance and understanding” as attributes which make a great foster parent.
When talking about the effect fostering has had on her own birth children, she replied: “My birth children have been absolutely fantastic throughout, they are unfazed with anything and it’s made them really strong individuals. We are all part of the family, and they treat my foster children just like their brother and sister.”
And asked about the support she’s received from FCA over the past decade, Lesley said: “FCA are fantastic with the events and activities for the children of all ages. They have lots of great training and days-out which we’ve benefited from over the years with all of our children.”
