During this unprecedented period, we know many children are still in need of good foster care and as we are all uncertain how long social distancing will remain in place, we must ensure there are enough good foster parents to meet children’s needs.
We want to assure you that our process for recruiting and assessing new foster parents remains as active as ever, as we continue to assess and support applicants to become foster parents for children who need a loving family home. When you begin an assessment with us you will be allocated an Assessing Social Worker and an administrative support person who will both maintain very regular contact with you throughout your assessment. Despite not being able to visit your home as we usually would, we have systems in place to ensure your fostering assessment can proceed, from your first conversation with your Assessing Social Worker to your Fostering Panel and every step in between. The Government has temporarily amended some of the assessment processes required to become a foster parent during this time, to enable foster parents to be approved throughout the pandemic and ensure children are not disadvantaged because of it.
Whether you have been thinking about fostering for a while or you are just thinking about it for the first time, in this time of change, it could be the right time for you to explore fostering with us. You are assured of a warm and supportive service in which you are actively prepared for the challenge of caring for a child. As ever we will support you all the way, so that you can provide great foster placements for children.
We will be delighted to hear from you and we very much look forward to working with you during your assessment and throughout what we hope will be a long and successful fostering career with us.
