Become a foster parent in Reading
There are around 300 vulnerable children in care in Reading that need a safe and loving home. That’s why we desperately need foster parents in your area to provide a safe and caring home for children and young people who, for a number of reasons, cannot live with their own families. Whether you are looking at this for the first time or you’ve fostered before – it is one of the most rewarding things you can do.
Care is at the heart of everything we do here in Reading. It’s pivotal to supporting families, children and young people to provide them with the best possible opportunities for the future.

24/7 fostering support in Reading
Here at Foster Care Associates Reading, we pride ourselves as being a friendly and welcoming group of people, who strive to make a difference to children and family’s lives.
To support our foster parents and children and young people in the best possible way, we have a regional group of highly skilled social workers and our own therapist who are brimming with experience and knowledge.
When you join us, you’ll be joining our community with access to one of the greatest fostering support packages out there. You’ll have access to:
- Local supervising social workers
- Local Referrals teams that concentrate on making quality matches of children and young people with suitable foster parents
- Therapists who work with foster parents and staff so that we help our foster parents care therapeutically
- Dedicated out of hours staff that know how to support you if something goes wrong out of hours
Our Out of Hours Support is there for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Who can foster?
When it comes to being a foster parent and fostering a child, it’s your personal qualities that count. Apart from a few basics, there aren’t any hard and fast rules about who can foster, as long as you are able to provide a stable home then you could make a brilliant foster parent. You just need to ensure you meet the following requirements:
- You’re over 21 years old
- You have the legal right to live and work in the UK
- You have a spare bedroom that’s always available to a child
- You’re passionate about making a difference
Reading Fostering Allowance and Benefits
Finances should never be a barrier to fostering. That’s why, at Foster Care Associates Reading, we pay a generous fostering allowance of on average £25,340 per year, tax-free so you can focus on what matters, providing a brighter future for a child in need.
