A dedicated team ensures that FCA maintains its high quality of care for the children/young people we place, our carers and local authority partners.
The Quality Assurance team promotes continuous improvement in all aspects of FCA services. It ensures that we not only comply with internal and external minimum standards – but that we strive to exceed them.
It also acts as a source of information, advice and support to staff at all levels across the agency and supports staff and project teams to evaluate their work – also conducting customer surveys and producing analysis of their feedback.
The team produces performance review information and tackles specific work as identified by FCA Regional Directors, the National Management Team or the FCA Board of Directors.
It is this team that sets our performance standards and makes sure that they are understood as well as producing and regularly reviewing and updating all FCA policies and procedures – ensuring that we are using best practice and current thinking.
Audits and inspections come under the auspices of this team, as well as alerting agency staff to relevant central policy initiatives.
It is the Quality Assurance team that responds to formal complaints and, where issues can’t be resolved at local level, will undertake investigation.
FCA has a representation and complaints procedure which differs by country to reflect regulation. Current copies can be requested from FCA regional offices or FCA Quality Assurance.
Finally, the QA team liaises with a range of key external stakeholders over matters of fostering service standards and policies, including: statutory regulatory bodies throughout the UK and Ireland (Ofsted - England; CSSIW - Wales; SCRC - Scotland; DHSSPS - Northern Ireland; ISSI - Ireland), relevant governments' departments, BAAF and Fostering Network.
Details of external inspections of FCA's services can be obtained from the QA team or by accessing the websites of the relevant statutory regulatory bodies, as above.
